LB20 Clears Hurdles to Become Law

LB20 Has Cleared All Legislative Hurdles To Become Law!

LB20 eliminates the current two-year voting waiting period and restores voting rights to people with felony convictions immediately upon completion of their sentence, including completion of probation and parole.

The law will take effect in July.

Nebraska took a significant step forward by restoring voting rights to Nebraskans after they have completed felony sentences. By removing an antiquated barrier for these individuals, we build a sense of belonging and civic engagement essential for a truly participatory democracy.

Come join the Voting Rights Restoration Coalition for a press conference tomorrow, Friday, April 19th at 1:30pm to discuss the impact of the passing of LB20 to restore voting rights for thousands of Nebraskans. We'll meet on the North Plaza steps of the Nebraska State Capitol Building.

Wear any shade of green if you have it.

Today is a great day for fairness in Nebraska. We encourage Nebraskans whose voting rights will be restored in time for November’s general election to go to GetMyVoteBack.org for more information.
